Subject: Fw: COMBAT WOUNDS RECEIVED RIDICULED IN MEDIA
FYI..
what I sent out to my major Purple Heart contacts across the US, plus a few others.
Saturday’s edition of the Imperial Valley Press (El Centro, California. Editor Brad Jennings-760-337-3425, editor@ivpressonline.com) featured a cartoon that mocks the combat wounds Nick Popaditch suffered in service to our country and nearly took his life. I have attached a youtube link which contains video of Nick, crawling out of his tank after being hit by a RPG in the head and a scan of the cartoon. I realize Nick is running for a political office and political cartoons are the norm. Attack him on his political views, not on injuries he sustained while fighting for other people’s freedom and liberties. I am incensed that the IVP would choice to use combat wounds as satire. This is not just an insult to Nick, but an affront to every Purple Heart recipient. People need to know this story, and the IVP must be called into the court of public opinion to insure that the media gets the message: we will not tolerate any of our combat wounded to be ridiculed for any reason.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Perez, President

I saw the cartoon from the IVP today and am not amused. I called for comment from Filner and there is none. I can’t get the editor on the horn. So I will commence to slamming them on the radio. It is a real shame that the chairman of the veteran’s committee in the House doesn’t care when his opponent is slammed in such a disgusting way.
Hang in there – I think you’re going to do well. They should be worried about jobs in their reading public – not about poking fun at a guy who gave more than most of us ever would for freedom. I think I’ll make an example of them (and Filner’s no comment).
Have you looked into Indiana’s GOP candidates for State Treasurer (Richard Mourdock) and Secretary of State (Charlie White)? Both are extremely conservative men that I know on a personal level. You can visit their websites by following these links:
Hi my name is Joseph F. Avellone and I am the Republican Candidate for Illinois State Represantative 113th District. I was paralyzed in the line of duty while rescuing a fellow Marine. Now I am a quadriplegic looking to take a State House seat away from Democrat. Tom Hollbrook is a 16yr incumbent who has never been opposed, until now. I would appreciate your endorsement as well as a contribution if possible. Thank you!

I was introduced to the Can-Do Conservatives at a tea party on July 4 in Tulsa, OK. Has there been any indicators of interest in starting a state chapter in Oklahoma? If not then I would like to pursue that.
The Can-Do Conservatives of America is a grassroots organization with the mission of giving the disabled a voice in Conservatism. Our motto is "A hand up, not a hand out!"

You should look at Ken Buck for Senate in Colorado. He is the grassroots choice for most of the tea party and 9-12 members.
Thanks,
Tammy
